Holiday Reindeer Antlers for VRChat
Need something festive to wear to a winter holiday meetup? Add some fun stylized antlers to your VRChat avatar!
Xmas Antlers updated for 2025!
Version 2.0 has very slightly reduced poly count and fully reworked UVs along with an updated material and texture maps. I've also added a small chasing lights animation which can be toggled off or removed.
Prerequisites & General Info
I recommend having at least enough Unity knowledge/experience to be comfortably able to upload your own avatars without much help before purchasing this asset. VRCFury is used for quick installation, though you can choose to skip it and set up your own toggles manually if you prefer.
The materials used require the use of a fur shader to display correctly.
The provided materials are pre-configured to use Warren's Fast Fur Shader - Lite which can be downloaded here (for free!). You can also make your own materials using other fur shaders if you like, but those may require a different kind of fur height map, which you will have to configure yourself for now.
The Xmas antlers have 11.6k triangles and use one material slot with 1-2k texture maps which can be reduced as needed. The current Unity package was made in version 2022.3.22f1.
Basic Setup Instructions
- Before installing any packages or assets to an existing Unity project, always create a backup of it first. Accidents happen, from unintentional deletions to incompatible versions, and when things break they are often irreversible in Unity. VRC's Creator Companion app gives you a handy dandy little button to do this very easily before opening the project.
- Download Warren's Fast Fur Shader - Lite V5.1.1 or later and import it into your project.
- Add VRCFury to your Creator Companion and add it to your project.
- Download and import the XmasAntlers 2.0 Unity package. This should create a folder named "Xmas Reindeer Antlers" which contain a prefab for easy installation along with a few subfolders.
- Place the prefab named "XmasAntlers2.0" directly under the root of your avatar in the hierarchy. You will need to adjust the position of the antlers and may also need to scale it up/down. There are two blend shapes that adjust the width of the antler bases to help you fit them neatly onto your avatar as well as one to reduce the thickness of the base if necessary. The VRCFury scripts should do the rest automatically whenever entering play mode or uploading.
- If you don't want to use VRCFury, that's totally ok! But you're on your own for setup.
- If adding these to a hand puppet or feral/quad/etc. avatar you will need to change the Armature Link script to point to the correct head bone or remove the script and place it manually.
